Hi I am Nora M, as I call myself online.  I have spent about a year working, thinking, breathing internet marketing.  The World Internet Summit in 2005 kicked off my online journey.  The internet offers many channels for so many things, whether to make money and become rich, to make friends, to become famous, to become notoriously famous, to get intellectual exchanges, to sell , to buy, to find life partner, to have a respectable career, and even how to have a criminal mind.   That’s just the point.  There’s a lot of career options here :)  .  Only ethics will uphold the integrity of the net.

My background was in advertising, specifically as a media specialist.  For 20 years, I was living, thinking and breathing media.   Clients tasked me to provide media solutions for their brands - so I would spend hours poring over numbers and present to them what media channels would fulfil their marketing goals based on either given budget or desired goals.   In media, we think of gross rating points, effective reach, effective frequency, targetting, optimum level, opportunity-to-see, and in recent years, outside the box ideas that integrate with marketing activities.   Here’s a scenario that the media purists would do - even with a small budget of say 100k, one has to be prepared to answer to the clients why certain media mix was recommended and why not the ten other media mixes.  You get the picture.   It was tiring.  And even though the advertising industry has advanced a bit farther than before, there is still a lack of data to link media deliveries to ROI.

Not so with internet marketing.  You can track how many unique visitors you have to your sites, how many clicked through ads, how many buy your stuffs, etcetcetc.   I thought, well this is interesting.  I can really apply my research skills to slice through many more numbers.   In time to come!
